History of Rudas Baths
During the Turkish occupation (from 1541 to 1699) Turks built a series of medieval Turkish baths along the Danube using the hot spring waters for bathing and healing. You can find more historical gems inside Rudas baths such as the Sokollu Mustafa Pasha Well and the octagonal pool which has been in use since the 16th century.
Rudas baths was restored in 2012 and awaits guests 7 days of the week, including late opening hours on Fridays and Saturdays.
Rudas is the only thermal bath in Budapest, which has men only and women only weekdays when aprons are worn by many guests instead of traditional swimwear. During the weekend both genders are welcomed.
