Rakoczi Bridge over the River Danube Budapest

Rakoczi Bridge (former Lagymanyosi Bridge) is the most southern and second newest bridge of Budapest, it was built between 1992 and 1995 on the Danube.

Rakoczi Bridge connects Pest side at Konyves Kalman Boulevard with the south Buda district, Lagymanyos (hence the former name). The bridge was renamed after the Hungarian leader Francis II Rakoczi in 2011.

The 493.4 meters long and 30.5 meters wide steel girder bridge was designed by Tibor Sigrai to transfer trams and ease the traffic of Petofi Bridge, which was the most southern bridge at that time. The unique lighting system of Rakoczi Bridge uses mirrors to enhance the light provided by the reflectors.

Rakoczi Bridge is part of the riverside attractions of Budapest, in the neighbourhood we can find the Palace of Arts (MUPA) and the National Theater.
