A38 Ship Danube River Sights in Budapest
The popular A38 Ship is located on the river Danube, south from Petofi Bridge, the standing ship is a hub of the Budapest nightlife. The modern event ship is a beloved riverside attraction of Budapest.
A38 ship is a former Ukrainian stone-carrier boat which was built in 1968 in the Lenin Ship Factory in Kiev and its original name was Tripolje. After the bombing of Belgrade in 1999, the lower section of the Danube became no longer navigable for large ships, the boat was docked for years at the Ukrainian section of the Danube.
The renovation began in 2002, the ship has been completely rebuilt. The main stage area is 72m², the concert hall accommodates 600 people, we can find a restaurant and 3 bars onboard. The grand opening took place on April 30, 2003 and A38 became one of the favourite venues of Budapest.
A38 won the Best Bar in the World title at the Lonely Planet travel guide poll in 2011.
Nearby attractions are the University of Technology on the Buda side and Petofi Bridge.
